The partners of the G4MD community are involved in the organization of several conferences with a strong focus on Group-IV materials. These conferences offer a forum to discuss the latest developments on material fabrication of (new) Group IV semiconductor materials, the understanding of their material properties and their implementation in novel electrical and optical device concepts. In addition, these conferences offer excellent learning and networking opportunities. Some important conferences are listed below.

The International SiGe, Ge, & Related Compounds

The International SiGe, Ge, & Related Compounds: Materials, Processing, and Devices Symposium is part of the ECS-Fall Meeting and is organized in even years: http://www.sigesymposium.org/ECS_SiGe/Welcome.html. This meeting provides a forum for reviewing and discussing materials and device related aspects of SiGe, Ge, and Related Compounds. There are 10 areas of interest: Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor ; FET Technology ; Optoelectronics ; Epitaxy ; Emerging Applications ; Processing ; Strain Engineering ; Surfaces and Interfaces ; Related Compounds ; Metrology & Characterization. The next Symposium will be organized from Oct 9 – 13, 2022 in Atlanta, GA (USA). The deadline for abstract submission is April 8, 2022.

ISTDM and ICSI

In 2018 the leading SiGe Meetings in materials science & technology, ISTDM and ICSI, were merged, offering a joint platform to discuss state-of-the-art research and development activities in the area of SiGe materials science and technology. This conference is organized in un-even years. The venue of this conference is rotated between Asia, Europe and America. The next ISTDM/ICSI will organized in May 2023 by Politecnico di Milano (Italy)

E_MRS Symposium

E_MRS Symposium: Integration of advanced materials on silicon: from classical to quantum applications. (EMRS Fall-Meeting, every year in September, Warsaw (Poland). The symposium aims at gathering scientists working on monolithic and heterogeneous integration of new materials, to enable additional functionalities on silicon-based platforms. Its originality lies in the fact that it considers both classical approaches and emerging topics linked to quantum applications. The various research fields covered in the symposium pave the way towards highly functionalized Si-based technologies which address current and future challenges in our society https://www.european-mrs.com/integration-advanced-materials-silicon-classical-quantum-applications-emrs Deadline for abstract submission: May 2022 (expected)

International Workshop on New Group IV Semiconductor Nanoelectronics

The International Workshop on New Group IV Semiconductor Nanoelectronics is a re-occurring workshop which is being organized by the Laboratory for Nanoelectronics and Spintronics, Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan,. The workshop focus is on new group IV semiconductor nanoelectronics. Website: http://www.murota.riec.tohoku.ac.jp/EI4GroupIV-WS/

GADEST: Gettering and Defect Engineering in Semiconductor Technology

The GADEST conference series provides a forum for interaction between scientists and engineers engaged in the field of semiconductor defect physics, materials science and device technology. The conference is focused on fundamental aspects as well as technological problems associated with defects in electronic materials and devices ranging from microelectronics to photovoltaics. GADEST was established in 1985 in the former German Democratic Republic with the intention to bring together scientists from east and west in an international conference in the field of semiconductor device technology and defect physics. Since the beginning, it is organized biennially at remote locations because this facilitates interactions and discussions among the participants coming from both industry and academia. Since the wall felt down, the conference is travelling through Europe and was organized by scientists from institutions in Italy, Sweden, Belgium, France, Austria, United Kingdom, Germany, and Georgia. In 2019, the 18th GADEST 2019 conference was organized by IHP in Zeuthen, Germany, located in the Berlin/Brandenburg Metropolitan Region: https://www.gadest2019.org/. The next GADEST conference will take place in Mondsee, Austria from September 10th to 16th 2022, http://www.jku.at/hfp/gadest2022. The deadline for abstract submission is January 15, 2022.

The IEEE Summer Topicals Meeting Series

The IEEE Summer Topicals Meeting Series serves as an international forum to facilitate information exchange between various technical communities using or affected by rapidly growing areas of technology or “Hot Topics” related to the general field of Photonics. This intimate environment provides the opportunity to learn about emerging fields and to interact with the research and technology leaders. Historically, the conference hosts 4-7 individual topics and attracts 250+ people with 30-50 participants attending each topic. The smaller meeting size provides the flexibility to pilot new and unique ideas. Deadline or abstract submissions is February 24, 2020

The IEEE Electron Devices Technology and Manufacturing (EDTM) Conference

The IEEE Electron Devices Technology and Manufacturing (EDTM) Conference, https://ewh.ieee.org/conf/edtm/2021/, is a new flagship conference created by IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) to address both the technology advances in micro/nano-electronics and the globalization of the semiconductor industry. The focus is on advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies. EDTM is a premier conference, providing a unique forum for discussions on a broad range of device/manufacturing-related topics. The next conference will be held in Chengdu, China, March 9th - 12th, 2021 and the abstract submission starts on August 1, 2020 and closes on October 12, 2020 .
